About Us
Typhoon Aquatics was founded in 2007 with an ambition to progress swimmers from the pram to the podium! Team atmosphere is at the very heart of Typhoon, and after establishing as one of the most sought-after providers of high-quality swimming lessons and coaching in the region we wanted to create a pathway for a competitive team.
In 2019 Lucton Typhoon Swimming Club - LTSC was born! We launched our Swim England affiliated competitive swimming club in partnership with Lucton School - our swim home base. We aim to give our members a highly technical programme combined with race-pace training to develop swimmers into athletes in a fun and friendly environment.
LTSC has flourished under the leadership of an evolving group of volunteers who support our professional coach, handle all financial matters, and manage our professional responsibilities in terms of running an affiliated swim club.
Our Core Team

Just some of her highlights include racing at a National level from aged 11 to 16, holder of a National record and competing at Commonwealth trials and more recently competing at the European Masters. Some amazing experiences there which she carries forward in her role as our Chairman.

Patrick also qualified for Olympic, World Championship and Commonwealth Games trials. Patrick started his coaching career at City of Hereford where he led the junior academy. Rachel has two children, Emily and Charlie who both loved swimming with Typhoon for many years and now reap the benefits of engaging with such a wonderful sport.
Volunteering
Volunteering for the club is a great way to get involved, and support our swimmers. There are a number of ways to be involved and we are always looking for help - some volunteer roles are ongoing, others are limited to just one event.
Committee Members
We have roles on our committee available, we meet regularly via either Zoom calls or in person. The committee collectively led by our Chairman Charlotte propose, discuss and agree on the direction of the club.
Team Managers
Team Managers support our Head Coach Patrick on poolside at swim meets. It's their job to look after the swimmers on the day and make sure they are in the right place at the right time. For this role 2 online courses are needed, one for Team Managers and another for Safeguarding - which will take two evenings. The other element required is to obtain an enhanced DBS Certificate for working with children. The courses and the DBS Certificate are all paid for by the club.
Swimming Officials
There are swimming official roles available to certify in. For more information please get in touch with us.
Timekeeper
The first step is to become Timekeeper Qualified, this means that you could then officiate at Level 3 and 4 swimming meets. For this role you would be required to complete an online theory course which would take one one evening, and then follow up with one practical session poolside.
Judge 1 / Judge 2 / Judge 2S
The next step from Timekeeper role would be to obtain a Qualification in Judge 1. This requires an online theory course followed up by 15-20 hours of practical experience at a number of events - covering all elements including, turns, strokes, timekeeping etc. Once you have Judge 1, you can do a similar requirement for Judge 2 and Judge 2S and so on.
